Anthony Hamilton Birmingham Concert reviews
As Fun as a Concert Can Be.
"The Hits Deep Tour allows for musicians to join in each other's songs, like a party. Anthony's awesome combination of love for his audience, enthusiasm, and attitude. The type of show this was, was clever. It lasted 3 hours, with an intermission, and it still felt like it was over too quickly...and that tells me how fun it was. I couldn't get enough.
Off of the "Eye On It" album, he sang Steal My Show, Forgiveness, Me Without You, Eye on It, Unstoppable. From "Tonight," he sang Tonight, Get Back Up, Funky Jesus Music, City on Our Knees, and I think he did Hold On. He also did Lose My Soul, Made to Love, Gone, Boomin, One World."
Disappointing
I love Anthony Hamilton, but this was not his best performance, nowhere near. He performed like it was a private jam session. Out of his great catalog of music, he sang about four and worked the heck out of 15-20 minutes of instrumental for each song. His opening act was meh, however, the host MC Lightfoot and the DJ did an outstanding job. The Stepper's he brought on stage was great. Anthony's solo performance for AARP earlier this year was fire! I brought concert tickets thinking it was going to be that type of lit and more. The crowd provided the energy however it was not respected. Hopefully, as he moves further into his tour he'll find his true North and give performances worthy of people's hard-earned money. I'll still buy his music but will sit out his concerts for now.
